About Jan-Willem Beijk

Jan-Willem Beijk has been a lawyer at AKD since September 2017. His clients include multinational companies, small and medium-sized companies, start-ups and housing associations.

They seek his advice primarily on tax optimisation of mergers & acquisitions and structuring, but also employee participation and the Dutch innovation box regime. In addition, he has advised on the formation and structuring of various development companies and assisted several housing associations with their applications for transfers of duties.

Jan-Willem likes to maintain good working relations with clients and the tax authorities alike, building bridges and getting a head start on possible developments. It enables him to anticipate those developments and avoid unpleasant tax surprises. Due to his good relationship with the tax authorities, Jan-Willem is in a position to contact them early and coordinate effective tax scenario planning. Combining solid tax expertise, financial competence and thorough client knowledge, Jan-Willem is able to devise creative solutions with the best possible results for his clients. He has a hands-on and thoroughgoing approach.

Jan-Willem regularly teaches courses, workshops and university classes. His courses focus on know-how and innovation, including the best application of the innovation box regime, stimulus packages for start-ups, and coordinating employee participation plans. Classes he taught included the transfer of duties by housing associations.

Scientific publications

  • co-authored the “Sustainable Housing Report”, a preliminary advice by the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-law Notaries, KNB (2019).
    The report advocates the use of tax stimuli to create more opportunities for sustainability projects.
  • co-authored AKD’s response to consultation document re proposed Mismatches on Application of Arm’s Length Principle (Countermeasures) Bill. The Dutch province of Brabant being a knowledge-based economy, it is important that its favourable conditions for international companies to establish themselves in Brabant be retained. In the response, AKD offers solutions for the overkill of conditions in place that may put off foreign investors.
