Hubert André-Dumont, chairman of AKD’s Brussels office, has over 35 years of legal experience. He focuses his practice on commercial law, company law, real estate and construction law, with a particular focus on mining (including extensive experience in francophone Africa), corporate governance, real estate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He is fluent in French, English, Dutch, with a certain understanding of German and Spanish. He has written extensively on international business and mining law issues, particularly on Congolese mining and corporate law issues and on international construction matters, including on the FIDIC form of engineering and construction contract. He became a member of the Brussels Bar (French) in 1982 after receiving a Lic. Jur. law degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain. He also holds a master’s degree in commercial law from the University of Bristol, England (1985). Hubert completed in 2009 the Advanced Leadership Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. Hubert is the co-chair of the Mining Law Committee of the International Bar Association. Also active in the charitable sector, Hubert André-Dumont is an officer of various NGOs. He has regularly been recommended by law directories such as The Legal 500 (EMEA's section on Belgium in the categories ‘Corporate and M&A’ and 'Real Estate') and Chambers and Partners (as an M&A and mining law expert for the Democratic Republic of Congo).
