Nanda Ruyters (1975) studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam. She has worked as a lawyer with AKD covering the field of intellectual property law and ICT since 2001. Nanda’s practice focuses primarily on legal questions concerning trade marks, copyright, design rights, trade names, advertising law and in resolving disputes associated with information technology.

Nanda’s client list includes both well-known national and international companies active in a wide range of business sectors. She has a particular focus on the clothing, textile and footware sectors.

As well as frequent involvement in pursuing litigation and advising on infringement cases, Nanda’s activities include drawing up and evaluating a variety of intellectual property-related contracts pertaining to licences, transfers and agency and distribution agreements. She also litigates and advises in cases where information technology contracts suffer from budget overruns, late delivery or software programming problems.

Nanda is a member of a number of professional bodies including the Benelux association for trade marks and design rights (BMM), the Association of European Trade Mark Owners (Marques), the European Communities Trademark Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Dutch society for advertising law (VvRr).

Nanda is also a lecturer and examiner in professional training courses for Benelux trade mark and design agents (Benelux Merken- en Modelgemachtigden) and a member of the Marques publications and website team.
