Barend de Roy van Zuidewijn (1959) has more than twenty years' experience of insolvency and corporate recovery practice. Prior to joining AKD, in 2001, he was a partner with Caron & Stevens/Baker & McKenzie Amsterdam where he led their insolvency section. He is currently in charge of AKD’s practice group on Insolvency and Restructuring.

Acting as official receiver, Barend has been involved in high profile bankruptcies such as that of KPNQwest Finance B.V., the financial holding of KPNQwest-concern, Internoc Holding N.V., Bobel N.V. and Ring! Rosa Products N.V.

Barend regularly acts as legal counsel for liable directors and supervisory board members. In his capacity as a lawyer for Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE he was involved in dealing with the bankruptcy of Jomed N.V.. He also acted on behalf of large creditors during bankruptcy proceedings involving DAF N.V. and Fokker N.V..

This team wins regular appointments as a trustee, most recently in the bankruptcies of SHB Havenpool and Greystone. It also advises mid-size and small companies on restructuring and insolvency issues, and has a special focus on the life sciences sector. Barend de Roy van Zuidewijn is the head of department.
