Marije Osse (1970) has been working for AKD since 1999, and is specialist in the field of Competition Law and European Law. She previously worked for Ludwig & Van Dam advocaten, where she specialised in franchise-related issues. She studied Law at the University of Utrecht and for one semester at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and has also worked in Rome, Italy. Marije is a member of the Competition Law Association.

Marije has many years of experience in litigating and advising in the field of cartels and concentrations; both in relation to regulation by the Dutch Competition Authority (NMa) and the enforcement of competition law by the European Commission (EC). In concrete terms, this means she specialises in the representation of parties who have been raided by the NMa and/or the EC, and during the following legal proceedings. She advises clients in the field of joint ventures, distribution relationships, and non-competition clauses. She assists in the filing of mergers, takeovers, and joint ventures with the NMa and the EC. She also supports clients in the drawing up and implementation of compliance programmes.

Marije has a specific focus on the healthcare market, and is attached to the Healthcare practice group of AKD. She has assisted the filing of concentration notifications for healthcare institutions and is conversant with the specific demands of competition law issues in the various healthcare markets (pharmacies, self-employed professionals/consultants, hospitals, home care agencies, etc.). Marije regularly gives advice in relation to joint ventures in the healthcare sector.

Furthermore, her area of expertise also includes general European Law, with an emphasis on the protection of legal rights against institutions and bodies of the EU and the free movement of goods within the EU. She has experience of litigation before European courts and Dutch courts where European law has played a role (e.g., claim for damages at the European Court of Justice, conducting preliminary-ruling proceedings at the European Court of Justice, and litigation in Dutch courts concerning legislation on the free movement of goods). She also supports government organisations in relation to state aid.

Marije has extensive experience in advising and litigating in the field of Life Sciences & Agro Food, in particular concerning pesticides, emission rights, and foodstuffs.
