Sebastiaan Moolenaar (1974) obtained his master of laws degree at Utrecht University in 1997, after which he successfully completed the LL.M. programme in International Business Law at King's College London.
Sebastiaan has been an international trade and transport lawyer since 1998, and a partner in AKD’s Transport & Trade practice group since 2008. Sebastiaan deals with cases concerning the international sale of goods, supply chains and logistics, and specialises in the structuring and drafting of international agency, distribution and cooperation agreements. His clients include overseas companies with an international distribution network, retail companies and logistics service providers.
Now that international relations are getting more complex and organisations are operating more professionally, it is increasingly important for players in international trade to be aware of the legal do's and don'ts. International trade requires specialised, integrated services combined with specific sector expertise. The international value chain combines many legal issues: contract management, carriage of goods, (value added) logistics, payment structures and dispute settlement. By combining all of these aspects, Sebastiaan can assist clients at all stages of their activities in the supply chain, whether it comes to contract preparation and negotiations, operations, or solving problems through arbitration or court proceedings.
Sebastiaan is a member of the Executive Committee (Deputy Director of Commissions) of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA), and has chaired the UIA’s Private International Law Commission from 2007 through 2011.
