Pieter Kuypers (1964) is head of the firm's European and Competition Law practice group and has been a partner at AKD Prinsen van Wijmen since 1998. Pieter studied law at Utrecht University, where he gained a post-graduate degree in European law. He also studied at King's College, London, and at the Faculté International de Droit Comparé, in Strasbourg.

Pieter specialises in European and competition law and in international private law. His primary activities within these fields have to do with cartel law, State Aid and contract tender law.
He is a member of the Netherlands Society for International Law, the Dutch and Belgian associations for European Law, the Netherlands association for competition law, the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).

He lecturers and publishes regularly on subjects in the field of European law and international private law. His finished his thesis on explicit and implicit forum choice in European international private law in February 2008.

Pieter is fluent in English, German and French.
