Marieke Koster has worked as a lawyer specialising in employment law since 2004 and began her career at Simmons & Simmons. Before joining AKD in January 2009, Marieke worked for more than a year in the international employment law practice group of Linklaters LLP.

Marieke advises national and international clients on collective and individual dismissals, the employment law-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions, transfers of company ownership, outsourcing, collective labour agreement (CAO) law and works council disputes. Marieke also has litigation experience and she boasts an excellent command of spoken and written English. Marieke's clients include Essent, GE, Royal Bank of Scotland, Center Parcs, BNP Paribas Investment Partners, Fairstar Heavy Transport and LG Electronics.

In the summer of 2010, Marieke successfully completed the Postgraduate Course in Employment Law, from which she qualified with distinction. She is a member of the Netherlands Employment Lawyers Association (Vereniging Arbeidsrecht Advocaten Nederland), the Rotterdam Association of Employment Lawyers (Vereniging Rotterdamse Arbeidsrecht Advocaten) as well as AKD's collective labour agreement law and transfer of company ownership & outsourcing specialised groups. Marieke additionally regularly publishes in the journals ArbeidsRecht and Tijdschrift Arbeidsrecht Praktijk (TAP). In December 2010, for example, TAP published an article by her about the continuing effect of (diagonal) collective labour agreement provisions that have been declared compulsorily applicable.

Eunice Bruyninckx and Marieke Koster of AKD’s Employment Law practice group have been advising the Royal Bank of Scotland for the past two years on all matters relating to employment law resulting from the legal split-off of part of ABN AMRO to Royal Bank of Scotland.
