Gjalt Elenbaas (1975) obtained his law degree from the University of Leiden in 2002, the same year in which he began his career at AKD in the Shipping, Trade and Insurance practice group.
Gjalt is mainly active in shipping matters, both at sea and on inland waterways. He is involved in both litigating and advising in the field of marine casualties, ship and yacht building, yacht disputes, liquid bulk logistics, marine insurance and cargo disputes.
Clients represented by Gjalt include commercial and private yards, shipowners, P&I clubs, underwriters, liquid bulk terminals, dredging companies and various other shipping-related companies.
Gjalt is member of the board of the Rotterdam Havenmuseum, a museum mainly engaged in preserving the historic Rotterdam dockland.
