Petra de Best (1969) specialises in Contract law and Civil litigation. She advises and pursues legal action in areas concerning contractual agreements, liability (including product liability), risk and risk limitation.
Petra is also leader of the AKD-wide group of staff engaged with business in the Life Sciences & Agro Food branch. Here, the focus is on pharmaceutical law and foodstuffs law. In the former field of law, she is called on to advise clients and litigate in relation to the Medicines Law, the law governing prices of pharmaceutical products (WGP) and the system for reimbursing medical costs (GVS). Regarding foodstuffs, her emphasis is primarily on the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Law (Warenwet) and associated regulations, liability and contractual arrangements and more specifically on the distinction between foodstuffs, medicinal products, health products and novel foods.
Petra de Best has accumulated years of experience as editor of the Journaal Warenwet - the Dutch periodical covering food and consumer product safety law. In addition, she is editor of the Dutch journal on jurisprudence in pharmaceutical law (Jurisprudentie Geneesmiddelenrecht) and the loose-leaf collection covering pharmaceutical regulations (Wetgeving Geneesmiddelen). She is the co-author of books covering guarantees in legal practice (Garanties in de rechtspraktijk), the regulation of pharmacies (Regelgeving farmacie) and a practical overview of Dutch foodstuffs law (Hoofdlijnen Levensmiddelenrecht). Petra has also written a wide range of other publications and annotations.
