Roeland Bertrams graduated from State University Utrecht (1972), University of London (LL.M. 1973) and Harvard Law School (LL.M. 1974). He has more than 20 years of experience as a practicing attorney/advocate: until 2007 with Clifford Chance, Amsterdam, and as from 1 September 2007 with AKD. Roeland is part of the firm’s corporate law team and specialises in banking & finance, structured and secured finance, cross border insolvency & restructuring and international contracting. He is also senior lecturer at the Law Faculty of VU University Amsterdam. He is on the board of several law committees and legal periodicals, and has written many articles and books, including ‘Bank Guarantees in International Trade’, ICC Publication nr. 661/Kluwer Law International. Roeland is also a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences.
