Ton Berben (1978) began his career as a lawyer in 2004 after graduating in East European Law from Leiden University. He forms part of the Construction and Real Estate practice group, where he specialises in procurement law and construction law. He is also a regular advisor on real estate developments as well as the purchase and sale of properties. Ton acts as adviser and litigator for various clients including real estate developers, investors and construction firms.

He is a member of both the Association of Real Estate Lawyers (‘Vereniging van Bouwrechtadvocaten’ or VBR-A) and the Association of Young Real Estate Lawyers (‘Vereniging voor Jonge Onroerend goed Juristen’ or VJOJ). Ton also writes a column on regulatory framework for the construction-law journal ‘Tijdschrift Aanbestedingsrecht’ and regularly serves as a judge for the Moot Court department of Leiden University.

In 2010, Ton completed the Grotius Specialist Course in Real Estate Law. Ton regularly gives courses in the field of construction and procurement law (Procurement Directives, Procurement Act, Public Procurement (Tendering Rules) Decree (Bao), Works Procurement Regulations (ARW) 2005, Uniform Administrative Conditions for the Execution of Works (UAV)1989, UAV 2011, Uniform Administrative Conditions for Integrated Contracts (UAV-GC) 2005, The New Rules 2005 Legal relationship client-architect, engineer and consultant (DNR) 2005, DNR 2011, and the Regulations governing the relationship between the client and the consulting engineers (RVOI) 2001) and frequently publishes on these subjects (including various articles in the Cobouw). Furthermore, he also writes blogs at the website blogs.akd.nl and twitters about construction and procurement law subjects.
