Regional zoning policy

Government authorities have specific instruments at their disposal for pursuing regional zoning policy.

These instruments include the Municipalities (Preferential Rights) Act, the Expropriation Act, the Spatial Planning Act (particularly land exploitation regulations and exploitation planning), and the Rural Areas (Planning) Act.

Guidance and control of spatial development
These Acts enable the government to provide guidance under public law with respect to e.g. regional development and the restructuring of inner city areas. The government can implement this type of development under private law as well. Some examples of this include contracts relating to land exploitation, park management, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and contracts pertaining to sustainable regional development.
