General administrative law

Businesses or private individuals may come into contact with the government in a number of ways, e.g. when applying for the necessary permits, exemptions or other forms of permission for projects. Another example is if the government takes enforcement measures in the event of contravention of the law.

Relations between the government and citizens are regulated under the General Administrative Law Act, among others. This Act also contains regulations on the way in which the government has to prepare and organise its decisions.

Advice and litigation
AKD advises numerous government organisations and businesses in the field of administrative law. We also conduct legal proceedings at the administrative and civil courts if the parties are unable to resolve their differences among themselves. These proceedings are extremely varied and include the following examples:

  • public access to documents (Government Information (Public Access) Act);
  • maintaining public order (e.g. queries concerning cannabis cafés and other catering establishments);
  • integrity issues;
  • legal and financial aspects of health care such as the Social Support Act;
  • issues relating to deregulated markets such as energy and telecommunications;
  • The Public Administration (Probity Screening) Act.
