AKD’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice group is one of the larger and most specialised teams in the field of intellectual property in the Netherlands.
Our lawyers have an excellent national and international
reputation with respect to trademark law, patent law and copyright
law.
International focus
Our IP&Technology practice group operates actively on
the international scene. For example, we maintain close ties with
the International Trademark Association (INTA) and with the Marques
association. These organisations represent the interests of
trademark owners all over the world. AKD plays an active part in
these organisations with respect to combating the trade in
counterfeiting, parallel imports and the enforcement of
trademarks.
Recognition
The European Legal 500 has described our practice group as
a team of 'very professional and highly qualified lawyers' that
regularly handles 'high-profile and complex cases'. The team has
taken successful action on behalf of parties such as Metro-Makro,
Samsung and The Sting in a number of cases pertaining to trademark
and copyright law. In addition, AKD's IP&Technology team is
actively involved in training courses for trademark and design
agents and for corporate lawyers.
Knowledge of your sector
In order to improve our services to our clients, we have formed
specialised 'sector groups', which combine our expertise in a
number of areas and which operate in a variety of
disciplines. Our IP&Technology specialists participate in
sector groups such as Retail (where the focus is on Fashion in
particular) and Life Sciences & Agro Food. This means that we
can always provide you with a specialist with expert knowledge and
experience relating to your sector.

Inditex S.A.
The practice group IP&T has assisted Inditex, right holder to the famous Zara brand name in a number of litigious files and procedures concerning the defence of its brand name before the Benelux office.
