Royal Bank of Scotland

Eunice Bruyninckx and Marieke Koster of AKD’s Employment Law practice group have been advising the Royal Bank of Scotland for the past two years on all matters relating to employment law resulting from the legal split-off of part of ABN AMRO to Royal Bank of Scotland.

One example of this is comprehensive advice on the effects of the legal split-off on the employee participation structure and employment conditions.

As soon as the legal split-off has been completed, Royal Bank of Scotland will no longer be able to consult ABN AMRO's company lawyers specialising in employment law. The bank will then make use of AKD's legal services. After the legal split-off, Royal Bank of Scotland's staff in the Netherlands will number about 3,000, and the bank will have to concentrate on matters such as setting up a Works Council and negotiating with the trade unions on a collective labour agreement and a redundancy package.
