Legal proceedings to start against Boeing for Turkish Airlines crash
08-09-2009 | Victims of the Turkish Airlines disaster of 25 February 2009 have given the go-ahead to commence legal proceedings against Boeing.
Victims of the Turkish Airlines disaster of 25 February 2009 who
are being represented by the legal firm AKD Prinsen Van Wijmen
(AKD) have given the go-ahead to Clifford Law Offices, an American
law firm, to commence legal proceedings against Boeing and possibly
other aircraft parts manufacturers.
AKD's legal team, investigated Boeing's liability following
reports by the Dutch Safety Board that the functioning of the
left-hand radio altimeter played a role in the cause of the
disaster. An American aviation expert has stated that the crash
could have been averted had Boeing equipped the Turkish Airlines
737-800 with automatic warning and correction systems such as those
installed in other aircraft.
In the United States, Boeing has announced that it is currently not
willing to consider offering a settlement to the victims. As the
legal case will need to be heard in Chicago, AKD's team has decided
to recommend to its clients engaging the renowned firm of Clifford
Law Offices to seek damages from Boeing in America. The
Chicago-based Clifford Law Offices specialises in aviation
accidents and securing injury compensation.
At a meeting held at AKD's Rotterdam office on 1 September, lawyers
from Clifford Law briefed AKD's clients about the part played by
the aircraft in the Turkish Airlines disaster, and gave a
comprehensive outline of the legal proceedings to be commenced in
Chicago.
